Simply put, sin is anything we think, say or do that displeases God. It is the direct violation of God’s commands. Since God is the Creator and mankind is the created, we are subject to His laws. Therefore, to disobey, or even disregard, His clear instructions is to fall short (miss the mark) of His standard of perfection.
According to God’s Word, “...all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”(Romans 3:23 NKJV™) Beyond that, we are told, “...There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”(Romans 3:10–12 NKJV™) (Sin is an offense against God.)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 NKJV™)
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NKJV™)
