All people are God’s creation, but we are not all His children. Because the first people, Adam and Eve, chose to ignore God’s clear command and disobeyed, sin entered into their hearts. Later on when they had children, they passed their “sin nature” onto their offspring (similar to how children inherit certain physical features, mental abilities and personality traits from their parents).
From the birth of that very first baby until today, every person has been born with sin firmly ingrained in their character. Since God is holy and perfect in all His ways and sin is the exact opposite of holiness, we all enter this world as enemies of God.
Only when we are “born again” through faith in Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection are we adopted into God’s family and become the children of God.
“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14 NKJV™)
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NKJV™)
